Summary :

Based on recent data, the rate of children infected with COVID-19 is estimated to be 1-3%. The study offers to assess the prevalence of COVID-19 in children admitted to paediatric emergency departments during the pandemic period in France using a national prospective study on 914 children. The primary evaluation factor will be the prevalence of COVID-19 positivity obtained through rt-PCR testing. The secondary factors include the seroprevalence of Covid-19. The results of this study will improve knowledge on the transmission of the disease, especially on the role of children as vectors.

Objectives:

To estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 in children admitted to paediatric emergency departments in hospitals in France, whether university-affiliated of not, during the pandemic period. To estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 in sub-populations of children admitted to emergency departments. To assess early respiratory signs and hospitalization within 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. To study the frequency of contacts for patients tested and assess the prevalence of other respiratory viruses in children admitted to paediatric emergency departments for respiratory signs.
